Vray Render Settings for Sketchup: A Complete Guide to Elevate your 3D Rendering Skills

The render settings of the V-Ray plugin enable users to control the design parameters, which can adjust the entire rendering procedure. In the rendering settings tab of the V-Ray plugin, users are able to change and adjust the rendering quality, rendering resolution, and rendering engine.

The most important settings of the V-Ray plugin for SketchUp software are as follows:
Denoiser
This render setting of the V-Ray plugin helps to smooth out the noise from the renders. This feature helps to take an existing render and perform the denoising operation after rendering out of the image completely.
Render engine
The users have to select the render engine to perform the rendering process. In this context, there are three rendering engines, including CUDA, CPU and RTX. In the case of having a powerful processor, the users can choose the CPU as the render engine. In the case of having powerful graphics, the users can choose CUDA as the render engine, and in the case of having a graphics card with the RTX name, users can select RTX as the render engine.
Visualisation types
In the V-Ray plugin, the visualisations have been divided into two types, which are:
Preview visualisations
While creating the visuals, the users need to preview the results many times, and thus, they can change the lighting and design materials of the images. In this context, the users have to set the render quality to low+ or medium. In this case, the resolution has been set to low values, like 800×450 px.
Final visualisations
After setting the light and design materials properly, the users are able to create the final visualisation. In this case, the render quality should be set to medium+ or high or high+. In this case, the resolution has been set to 1920x1080px or more than 3500×2500 px.
Safe frame and aspect ratio option
The safe frame feature helps to show the expected output to the users. The render size can also be adjusted by the users by changing the aspect ratio.
Save image option
The save image option of the V-Ray plugin enables the autosave of each rendered image. In this context, the users have to activate the ‘save frame’ and then, has to select the file format in which they want to save the image. The destination folder also needs to be selected by the users to store their rendered images.
Exposure value
The exposure value has been set to 14.2 by default. This value can also be adjusted by the users, which enables them to adjust the lighting feature of the camera.
Global illumination
With the help of the global illumination feature, users are able to specify the options of lighting options in a scene.
Global outlines
This feature enables users to control over linework, which helps to get an illustrative look of the renders.
Material override
The users are able to specify the colour or the material to override all other materials in the scene.
Render outputs
The settings tab of the V-Ray Asset Editor enables users to access a wide range of output settings.
Swarm settings
The swarm settings of the image can also be adjusted within the V-Ray plugin.
Amination option
Users are able to set a frame range for the animated scenes through the animation rollout option.

Rendering speed of V-Ray
Most of the early-shade renders have been created in V-Ray within just 30 seconds. On the other hand, the quality of images that are going to be represented to the client, approaching for a new project, will take three or four hours. In the case of the image being a whopper at more than 5 megapixels, the users have to wait overnight to get the final result. The stamp option in the V-Ray Frame Buffer helps to show the render time of the image.
Way to improve the rendering speed of V-Ray
To get faster rendering times, the users have to turn down the Max. In the case of using the render Time (min) limit, the users have to nudge the time limit value down. While cutting down the rendering time, it needs to be considered that there is more noise, and the quality of the image has also decreased.

Tips to improve the rendering quality of V-Ray
➢ For improving the rendering quality of V-Ray, the users have to increase the Max. Subdivs parameter for Bucket or Progressive Image Sampler. Later, the users are also able to develop their favourite set of parameters, which can match the way of designing of the user's design.
➢ The users can also improve the rendering quality by dragging the Quality slider to a higher-quality preset.
➢ The V-Ray Denoiser tool can also be used by users to improve the quality of images without affecting or slowing down the rendering process. The post-rendering process of the Denoiser tool also helps to remove the noise in the image without impacting the rendering time.
