An exclusive course on sketchup for DIGITAL FABRICATION & PROTOTYPING by Fab Lab
Fab Lab in Limerick City is offering an exclusive course for sketchup professionals to learn how to generate 3d drawings which can be used together with digital fabrication. The course will continue for four week. The accommodation can be made for 12 people and classes will be conducted on four subsequent Mondays from 19:30-22:00.
Sketchup for Digital Fabrication and Prototyping course caters to facilitate the users transforming their conceptions into 3D realities. The attendees will be familiar with the fundamentals of Sketchup to sharpen their skills for creating & designing in the virtual world. The attendees can learn various applications of sketchup with basic layout, menus and tools panels as well as handy plugins and real life utilizations. By undergoing this exclusive sketchup course, the attendees will acquire the abilities required to accelerate their design ideas and turn them into real life from virtual 3d surroundings.
Week 1: There will be a brief presentation on sketchup and its applications. The professionals in Fab Lab will delve into the effectiveness of each machine in the Fab Lab to perceive the connection amid the machines and the Sketchup software. The attendees then gather knowledge on the basics of this program and maneuver this 3 dimensional world. The attendees will be assigned with small tasks for the week to improve their skills with the software and produce 3d models independently.
Week 2: In second week the attendees can solve any issue that may have been aroused for executing the assigned tasks in week one. The attendees will then be taught with a number of new features to completely grasp the adaptability of the program and resolve hindrances by applying the various toolset. In this session, the attendees can walk around the transformation of 3d objects into simple 2d versions generating very simple forms on the laser cutter. The attendees can also learn how to apply sketchup to prototype a jigsaw like assembly method with the application of a series of 2d planes to be into 3d objects.
Week 3 & 4: In this week, the attendees will be given ample scopes to produce a 3d object independently. In the final week, this model will be arranged for 3d printing. The attendees will learn how to generate more advanced model which can be easily 3d printable as well as export the files and arrange them to print on the 3d printer. Each attendee will be allowed to design a exclusive object and print it with own.
The course fee is €60 for student and €100 for professional.
