The V-Ray Plug-ins - Chaos group develops this plug-in. It works with most popular 3D modeling tools like SketchUp and Robert McNeel & Associate's Rhino 4.0, The Rhino and Sketchup users are mostly benefited with this plug-in as the both users are able to render their most cutting-edge images in rapid, effortless and cost-effective way.
With its robust ray-tracing engine and vast collection of materials V-Ray produces photorealistic images of exceptional quality and changed the face of Architectural Visualization all alone.
V-Ray comes up with some high end features like Global Illumination, physically perfect image based lighting and shaders, making it best rendering solution for the designers to render in design time.
The V-ray plug-ins may be categorized in the following ways :-
V-Ray for Rhino - This plug-in offers a high-tech solution that generates high-quality & cutting-edge images of unparalleled realism for visualization professionals.
With its strong ray-tracing engine the plug-in provides a great assistance to all Rhino users ranging from engineering, architecture, product design, 3D animation to render their images swiftly, easily and cost effectively.
The plug-in contains some exclusive features like Glossy Reflections & Refractions, Global Illumination & Global Lighting, Area Shadows, Reusable Irradiance Maps displacement.
The plug-in also well-matched with V-Ray Material Editor With Material Preview, V-Ray Sun, V-Ray Express Toolbar and Sky with V-Ray Physical Camera.
The plug-in also comes up with true HDRI Support, full animation support and exploits depth-of-field Camera Effect.
V-Ray for Rhino runs on Windows XP and Vista.
V-Ray for Sketchup - This plug-in provides assistance to SketchUp users to work within the SketchUp environment and visualize their models with the supreme quality and pragmatism.
The plug-in is enriched with Global illumination feature that greatly benefits sketchup users to set up the lighting for complete scene effortlessly. This will save a lot of time for adjusting lighting location and brightness.
It also supports High Dynamic Range values, also known as HDRI (High Dynamic Range Image). The user can enjoy the benefit to get the full scene image as his render light source. The plug-in can also be utilized for background rendering.
V-Ray for SketchUp runs on Windows XP, Vista, or Mac OS.
V-Ray for SketchUp System Requirements-
Windows XP, Minimum Hardware
600 MHz processor, 128 MB RAM, 128 MB of available hard-disk space, 3D class Video Card with 128 MB of memory or higher. The video card driver must supports OpenGL version 1.5 or higher and up to date.
Windows Vista and Windows 7, Minimum Hardware
1 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB of total hard-disk space, 3D class Video Card with 256 MB of memory or higher.
Mac OS X, Minimum Hardware
1 GHz PowerPC™ G4, 512 MB RAM, 160 MB of available hard-disk space, 3D class Video Card with 128 MB of memory or higher. The video card driver must support OpenGL version 1.5 or higher and up to date, 3 button, scroll-wheel mouse.
T-Splines for Rhino - T-Splines for Rhino incorporated with Rhino 4 encourage designers to generate and edit fluid, organic shapes effortlessly for design and manufacturing.
With the collection of new surfacing tools designers are able to accelerate their design time, complete tasks that would be tedious or difficult in Rhino, and translate among subdivision surface modeling programs and Rhino.
V-Ray for 3d Studio Max - This plug-in produces quick, easy and quality rendering with its fast fully-multithreaded ray tracing. It takes the advantage of all the CPUs supported by your system throughout its pipeline - preparation and rendering.
This plug-in brings astonishing realism in the rendering of the images with the help of it’s features like accurate reflections and refractions clean or glossy and blurred. System requirements for the program are identical to 3d Studio Max.
V-Ray Real Time for 3d Studio Max - V-Ray RT, an ActiveShade renderer in 3ds Max, is designed to improve and speed up the artist’s work on the Texturing and Lightening stage. With its raytracing technology it provides interactive rendering and real-time interaction between the user and the virtual environment.
V-Ray RT pursues the user’s actions at the time of working on the scene and mechanically produces a photorealistic preview of the scene.
V-Ray RT includes the existing 3ds Max and V-Ray materials, textures, lights, cameras etc. V-Ray RT consists of two major components:
- ♦ V-Ray RT interactive renderer in 3ds Max;
- ♦ One or more V-Ray RT render servers.
V-Ray for Maya - V-Ray is now accessible for CAD's Maya. Now rendering is achievable for even larger scenes with greater complexity, This plug-in is perfect for reproducing the advanced visual techniques used in the Visual FX, Film, Media and Entertainment industries with the help of it’s unique features like true 3D Motion Blur, Sun & Sky procedural lighting system, Physical camera for matching live footage, Environment Fog, a set of Sub-Surface Scattering shaders and many others.
V-Ray for Maya is an essential tool which provides assistance for the artists to make over even the most ambitious imaginative hallucinations into realism for both fewer time and lesser cost maintaining the quality.
V-Ray for Maya is supported on Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora operating systems in their 32-bit and 64-bit versions (other distributions also work). V-Ray runs with CAD Maya 2008, 2009 and 2010 versions.
VRayScatter : Plugin for 3ds Max and V-Ray - VRayScatter allows V-Ray to produce huge amounts of objects in a collection. This plug-in is also ideal to make scenes with millions of objects. This plug-in facilitate users to produce vast forest areas or even a city with unlimited amount of buildings. Quick render time generation of objects with optimized RAM management makes the process of scene creation smooth.
With its feature like integrated special procedural map VRayScatterTexture the plug-in lets user to identify random color for every object in the collection for a clean realistic effect. VRayScatterTexture is also applied on any object in the scene.
V-Ray also contains a number of additional plugins which propose functionality not found in Max itself. In order to work with V-Ray and boost up the rendering speed these plug-ins are optimized.
